    Frequently Asked Questions

    You will receive an automated email from our website with a summary of your booking and your order number. This does not mean that your booking has been confirmed. Within 48 hours you will receive another automatic email with the new status of your reservation “confirmed” or “cancelled”.

    If payment for the booking is made via bank transfer, it will only be confirmed when payment is received by the bank or upon presentation of proof of payment. (please send us via email with your reservation number).

    If you do not receive this email, please contact us through our email info@instantcar.pt – also check your spam box.

    A valid driver’s license and passport/ID are required.

    We are not allowed to rent a car if you don’t have your driver’s license with you, unless you have an official document from the authorities as a replacement.

    No, you don’t need a credit card to book, payment can be made in full when you receive the car, in cash or by card (debit or credit) or by bank transfer. If you choose to pay in cash, make sure you have cash with you when picking up the vehicle.

    Full insurance (SCDW) is included in our prices, excluding negligence.

    Negligence situations are not included, such as:

    • Careless driving (off roads, prohibited areas, wrong side of the road, etc.)
    • Careless parking (not using the handbrake, ignoring the car’s sensors and camera, etc.)
    • Fuel mistake
    • Damage the car’s interior
    • Parking tickets and speeding
    • Failure to report accidents and/or damages
    • Other negligence situations.

    In the event of damage to the car, you are expected to contact us immediately with photographs of the car and details of where and how it happened.

    If you are involved in an accident with other cars, you should immediately contact the police and the rent a car. Do not sign any documents without our consent. Please take note of the registration number of all cars involved, insurance policy number, name and contact details of the drivers.

    We deliver anywhere on the island, however depending on the delivery area it may involve extra costs.

    We charge the following location fees:

    Madeira Airport (08:00 to 23:00) – 25€

    Madeira Airport (23:00 to 08:00) – 40€

    Hotel Inside or Outside Funchal – Free

    Yes, although we do not have an office at the airport, one of our agents will be outside the airport arrivals waiting for you. The car will be in the arrivals park.

    Delivery fees are applied after office hours (40€).

    Yes, we will give you instructions on the day of returning the car, where to park the car and where to leave the keys, or one of our staff will meet you.

    A fee of 40€ is charged for pick-ups or returns that are made between 23:00 and 08:00.

    • If you wish to change your booking, you will be asked to make a new booking on our website and ask us to cancel your current booking.

      Please note that prices change throughout the year during low and high seasons, so if your changes involve a price change, it will be as per the price in effect at the time of your change.

    If you want to cancel your reservation before your arrival date, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can release the car to other customers. No cancellation fees are applied.

    Yes, contact us by email or phone to check if it is possible to keep the car for longer.

    The driver must be over 18 years old.

    We consider that each suitcase has dimensions of approximately 90 x 75 x 43 cm.

    Yes of course. We know how important it is to share your emotions behind the wheel, so we’ve made it easy for you to include another driver. The additional driver is subject to the same rental rules that apply to you, the only difference is that you will have to pay to add him, thus making him covered by your rental agreement.

    We ask that you let us know as soon as you know that your flight has changed so that we can organize ourselves and have an agent at the airport waiting for you.

    If your flight exceeds working hours (from 08:00 to 23:00) a fee of €40 will be charged.

    We will wait for your contact in order to inform us of the new details of your flight and if you want to keep your reservation.

    The final amount of your booking will be the same, we do not make deductions.
